John Mayes, LSCW,CADC
President & CEO Trilogy, Inc.
Trilogy, Inc., founded in 1971, is a private not-for-profit behavioral healthcare organization with more than 44 years of experience serving people with serious mental illness in the City of Chicago and its surrounding suburbs. Trilogy's mission is to assist people in their recovery from serious mental illness by helping them discover and reclaim their own capabilities and life direction.
John Mayes was appointed President and CEO of Trilogy in January 2006. He came to Trilogy from Thresholds, a similar non-profit, where he rose from Program Coordinator to Associate Director. At the time of his departure from Thresholds, he was managing most of the agency’s programs on Chicago’s South and West sides and the Near-West suburbs.
During John’s tenure at Trilogy, he has focused on developing community partnerships to help bridge funding and service gaps and ensure that barriers to primary and behavioral healthcare are reduced or eliminated for Trilogy’s clients on their path of recovery. Through these partnerships and diversified funding, Trilogy has been able to create a nationally recognized Integrated Healthcare program, a 365 days–a-year Peer-to-Peer Drop-In Center for clients and those who are without entitlements, on site targeted as well as routine HIV testing and counseling within the Drop-In Center, and an evidence-based Family Psycho-education Program.
In November of 2012, under John’s leadership, Trilogy was named one of Chicago Tribune’s Top Workplaces.
John is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC). He is a former President of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill-Greater Chicago, and a U.S. Military Veteran – Viet Nam.
John forged a friendly working relation with Marty Cerny while Marty facilitated cluster housing opportunities for Trilogy clients.
John earned his Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
